Christian ministry engages and develops children to become Disciples of Christ. Our congregation’s personal investment in the spiritual growth of children is expressed through the vows that the congregation makes, along with parents, during the sacrament of baptism. Our goal is to prepare our children to commit their lives to Christ and dedicate their lives to His mission.
Our first mission is fulfilling the baptismal vows we make as parents and church members for our children to know Jesus Christ and to serve Him through serving others.
See below for general information about our Children’s Ministry.
What is Godly Play?
Children have an innate sense of the presence of God. Godly Play helps them to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language, and to enhance their spiritual experience through wonder and play using Montessori principles.
Where can my child experience Godly Play?
Here at First Presbyterian Church we offer Godly Play every Sunday during the 9:30 service. Children are blessed during the service and led to the Godly Play room for their own faith building experience.
Children will gain the language and sense of wonder about the presence of God to continue Godly Play at home with you. Wondering about bible stories and playing out what they read is all it takes. We encourage families to wonder together.
If you would like to learn more, please join us on a Sunday morning or contact Nicole Cramer Our Coordinator of Children’s Faith Formation at email@example.com

During worship, children will be invited forward for the children’s message known as the ‘Conversation with Children.’ Children 5th grade and under are welcome to join the leader on the steps of the Chancel for a lesson and prayer. We encourage this intergenerational worship to unite the congregation in praising God. As a multigenerational community, we are enriched by learning from one another and supporting one another through worship.

Vacation Bible School
Each summer, we offer a week of fun and learning for children through Vacation Bible School. Last summer’s VBS, Group’s “Galilee by the Sea,” took place June 25-28, 2015. Our Bible school happened over 2 evenings and 2 mornings: Thursday and Friday, June 25 & 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 27 & 28 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. including Sunday morning worship in the Great Room. Go to our worship service page to see the service from June 28 when we shared our seaside experience! Go to the FPC Facebook page to see photos from our adventure in Galilee!
In addition to Vacation Bible School, there are children and family activities schedule throughout the summer for fellowship and fun. Gatherings range from pool parties and family movie nights, to a trip to the ballpark for a Mudhen’s game on fireworks night. Watch the website and the church newsletter for upcoming events.
