The mission of Adult Ministry is to prepare, challenge, and inspire women and men to a life of Christian discipleship. It is our desire that every adult become a full and fulfilled disciple of Jesus Christ, and that each person have a passion for Christian service, whether it is across the street or around the globe.
We invite you to investigate the many resources of Adult Ministries here at First Presbyterian. We hope that you will find that these resources will help bring spiritual depth to your life. Adult Education Committee is a session led committee under the Christian Education Committee made up of volunteers that provide opportunities for Christian education, fellowship, outreach and mission.
We offer 2 worship services. Choose the one that best fits your needs.
8:00 a.m. COMMUNION WORSHIP in the Chapel
9:30 a.m. TRADITIONAL WORSHIP in the Sanctuary
Communion is offered at the 9:30 service on first Sunday of each month.
We offer Sunday school classes each week from 10:45am-11:35am.
Character Builders – The Character Builders class began in 1920. Originally a men’s only class, the group has evolved through the years into an adult Bible study class for men & women high school age and older. The class meets in Room 209-210 following the traditional worship service. The classes uses The Present Word study book that introduces a new 3 month study each season (winter, spring, summer & fall). Each study follows a topic which is broken into monthly study units using various scripture references. The class is always open. There’s a chair, a mug and a study book waiting for you! Please join in whenever you are free to. The atmosphere is that of caring fellowship, light refreshments and relevant lessons led by the pastors and participants and sparked with lots of lively discussion. This class is open to anyone 8th grade and older! Please join in ANYTIME!
Fellowship Hall Seminars are designed to provide opportunities for growth in Christian discipleship. We strive to address topics that are interesting and relevant with a balanced emphasis on Scripture, Presbyterian heritage, community, mission and outreach, and living as a Christian in today’s world.
Adult Education Class – Each semester we select a new series of study. Past classes include: The Gary Smalley Series, Nooma, I am second, and Sticky Faith. If you have a suggestion for an adult, family, or couple’s study we are always open to new ideas! Please contact the church office!
Re-Membership Class – For new members and existing members alike! This class is provided for adults who would like to join First Presbyterians membership AND for current members who would like to refresh their knowledge about being a Presbyterian and the Presbyterian Church. These classes are offered 3 to 4 times a year and provide information about the Presbyterian Church USA, the history of the Presbyterian Church and the ministry, goals and vision of First Presbyterian Church of Findlay. During the Week
Women of Faith is open to all women. The only requirement is a desire to continue your faith journey. We meet from 9:30 to 11:30 every Monday morning in the library (next to the church office). We discuss a variety of spiritual studies. Past studies include The Purpose Driven Life and May I Have This Dance by Joyce Rupp. Childcare is provide upon request. (see below)
The FPC Book Review Group – Readers, join us the second Monday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in the Parlor to enjoy coffee or tea and discuss some great books. All are invited to this fun and educational group. Books are chosen by the group each December, so bring 2 of your favorite reads to recommend and talk about! All are welcome! Childcare is provide upon request (see below).
The KnitWits is a knitting, crocheting and craft group that meets the 2nd and 4th Fridays every month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Room 112. Our knitting ministry provides for a variety of mission opportunities including: baby blankets and accessories for new babies in the congregation; handmade blankets (knit, crochet, quilt, or fleece tied) for our at home members in care & retirement facilities and for Project Linus. Each November hats, scarves, and mittens are offered to our guests at our community dinner on the second Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to any person in need of them – men, women and children. Knitwits is open to everyone and all crafts! Experience members will teach knitting and crocheting for anyone who would like to learn! Yarn donations welcome!
Men’s Breakfast Bible Study meets every Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. at Café Marie (516 S Main St in Findlay). The format is simple: breakfast and a discussion of a chapter of Scripture. Please join us anytime! All men are welcome. Start the day with nourishment for the body and the soul!
Men’s Bible Study meets every Thursday at 8:00 a.m. in the Parlor. This community, interdenominational group Bible study is an open spiritual discussion, including prayer, singing, and study with video. Led by Dr. Jim Miller, a member of First Presbyterian, this group is open to all gentlemen.
